Actually, while parade armor was very heavy, armor for fighting was made with mobility in mind! I can’t link because ask, but you can find videos of people in full period-correct armor turning cartwheels and stuff. It’s neat!

I like to picture Undyne’s spears like glass: they hurt when they come
in contact, yet they break easily when countered. This sort of makes
visualizing Undyne’s fight easier for me, with the shield mechanic and
all. After all, her spears are made of magic.
