for all the shitting i do on the undertale fandom…. play it. If you were disappointe in the shitty dead lesbians in life is strange, play it. if you’re tired of cynical grey narratives where death and despair are the grown up story you win with, play it. if you are tired of mental illness being the boogeyman and the mentally ill being monsters you could never relate to, play it. it’s a passionate, empowering narrative about love, compassion, tragedy- it’s about vicious cycles and breaking them- its about the rippling affects of cruelty, and how one act of cruelty, so long ago no one even remembers it, that branches outward, one act of cruelty affecting a person and making them lash out and act cruelly to others, who in turn act cruelly to others, who in turn act cruelly to you- and you breaking the cycle, and showing kindness, no matter what. It’s about the power of love- the woman a mother has for her children no matter what, the love a woman has for the girl she’s in love with, the love between brothers, the love between friends, the love one has for the world and people around them, its about boundless, exuberant, endless love.
It takes 4-6 hours to complete. I promise, you will not feel you have wasted it.
legends say that those who climb the mountain never return.
happy birthday, UNDERTALE.
i could do a heartfelt speech about how much joy it brought me, how many friends it gave me, how many tears it made me shed, but also I’ve been drawing UNDERTALE stuff pretty much non-stop since it came out so I think that’d be kinda redundant.
A big happy first birthday to one of my most favorite games to ever exist, and a big thank you to Toby Fox for sharing his beautiful creation into the world 🙂
Really I don’t know what to say, haha. This fandom is very important to me. I’ve met wonderful people through this game, I learned many things, and enjoy many hours of this wonderful game. All scenes, all routes, all adorable characters.
