And she’s actually pretty romantic!

According to Papyrus, she writes a lot of letters but can never deliver them herself because she changes her mind about what she wants to say and goes back to change it.

To me, that sounds like she’s tried to tell Alphys how she feels for a very long time but has never been able to put her feelings into the right words. She wants her confession to be perfect and her standards of romance are very high.

And when Alphys reads her letter she comments on it being really passionate! Undyne is very good at expressing her feelings for her.

Also, when roleplaying with Alphys, if you say “you’re cute” as Undyne, Alphys says that Undyne always calls her cute and she never knows how to reply. And as soon as Undyne sees her, she immediately calls her outfit cute. Undyne likes to shower her lizard girl in compliments because she deserves it. And she knows that she has low self-esteem​ and so calling her cute every time she sees her is adorable.

Alphys also informs us that a friend helped her pick out the dress she wears for her date, and judging by the fact that she says “her” I’m pretty sure this friend of hers is Undyne. So she also goes out of her way to find outfits for Alphys that would help her feel better about herself which is just lovely.

Long story short, Undyne is really sweet and somebody needs to give her a lizard to love.
